How to add a link within your gallery block on Squarespace
When I first started using Squarespace, I had no idea how to use any of the content blocks, or even how to use them within my website. I mean, of course I didn't - The platform was new to me!
When it came to designing my website, I was working on my sidebar and adding different categories. I knew I didn't just want a regular category list (because there are categories I don't even want to show), so I had to customize it in a unique way and be able to link those photos in my gallery block to the category pages.
Today, I'm going to share with you a pretty helpful tutorial on adding links to your Gallery block so that you can start giving your audience an other "call to action" option.
First things first, decide where you'll want your gallery block to be. Click the bubble icon on the left and choose your chosen gallery block. I chose the grid option bellow (it's what I've got in my categories in my sidebar as well) to link to other blog posts on my website, However you're more than welcome to choose any other the 4 options.
You'll want to make sure you're on the "Upload Media" option, and upload the images you'd like to add to your gallery. I suggest adding all your images in which you want to include, then move on to the next step.
Once your photos have finished loading, you can edit your photo anyway you want by clicking the pencil icon. If you want to keep them the way they are, you can go straight to adding your link. To do so, you'll want to click the little sun Icon on the left side of your photo. A pop up will show, indicating that you'll need to add your image title, text and link.
Add your title (because SEO is important for your website!) and include a link to which you want your photo to direct your readers to. I linked my photo to a blog post I shared on the blog a few weeks ago.
Don't forget to click save, otherwise your photos won't link to a different page.
Repeat the steps 1 through 4 for the other photos you wish to add. Once you're all done, click "APPLY" and your photos will be all set to go.
You should have photos that look similar to the following bellow:
And that's it!
That's all there is to it when it comes to adding links to your gallery block photos.
